The 2017 Key Stage 4 Pathways to Success process is an important one and this booklet has been designed to inform you about this exciting phase in your child’s education.
At North Chadderton School, we want all our students to leave us with qualifications in high quality subjects and at the highest possible grades. Students differ in their abilities and interests and therefore, we aim to provide a curriculum offer that caters for both.
At North Chadderton, we offer a 3 year GCSE curriculum which is personalised for each and every student. Students will be provided with a bespoke Pathway to Success based on their achievement on entry to North Chadderton. There are 4 Pathways to Success. The majority of students (approximately 80%) will follow Pathway 1 and 2.
Alongside the compulsory, core curriculum which includes English, Mathematics and Science, students will be able to select additional subjects to study depending on their individualised pathway. This is an opportunity for students to specialise and pick subjects that match early career plans and those that they really enjoy.
Students will also continue to study topics that are part of the SMSC (Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural) curriculum covering crucial topics including health and careers. Physical Education is also part of the supporting curriculum to allow them to develop as healthy individuals.
Parents and students will be invited to a number of different information and support sessions over the coming weeks. Some of these you will attend together; others will target your child more directly. All of these will help you and your son/daughter fully understand the process and make the right choices.
